  Sky you should vote who you feel is the best choice and I am not knocking you for voting for Barr if he is your choice. Millions of Americans feel Obama is the best choice based on intellect, judgement, character, experience, and values. I am one of them and have been a supporter of his for over a year, but only because he is white and a White Sox fan.

  If she were my neighbor, she would be known as the crazy neighbor. She attends a church that speaks in tongues, she likes to hunt moose, she doesn’t believe dinosaurs existed, she thinks books that don’t fit her religious values should be banned, she discriminates against polar bears, she thinks that global warming is not man made but an act of god, she thinks that telling kids to just say “no to sex” is the only sex education they need, she laughs at people when they think an other senator should die etc…… What exactly is likable about this lady? Is she likable because she is attractive? Is she likable because she is from Alaska? I am sure if most Americans had an attention span long enough to get to know here they might actually dislike her personality more than Bush. As much as I “hate” Bush, I probably would rather have a beer with him. She is a female Bush. She is crazier than he is, but just smarter, although she does seem not all that intelligent.
  
  Why is it that intelligent politicians scare so many of Americans? Would you want a doctor who only had an associate’s degree? Don’t we want our leaders to be smarter than us? Americans are right about one thing; Palin is an average American, very average. The issue is leaders are not supposed to be average, they are suppose to be extraordinary! I have no doubt she got to where she is by being a cut throat barracuda just like Bush got to where he is by being a bully of a cowboy.

  The greatest aspect of this place is the amazing people who come here, especially the long term members who are able to ignore drama and focus on hope. I love this place because it is some place I can come to vent, give support to those in need, bond with a diverse group of people from all over the world, and even sometimes laugh. There is no doubt it is the people that make this place so darn cool! When you have been here long enough you realize it is not only about helping the suicide victims, but also about friendship. It took me about six months to see this place for what it was, up until that point I was seeing it as cliquish, addicting, and a place where I didn’t know how visible I was. Don’t get me wrong I adored many of the friends I made during my early days, but it took me about six months to see things clearly. Now I am comfortable and estactic it is my virtual home. I just moved across the country, so it was so nice to know that this pace was the one constant during my move. :)

  First of all Sans as you know the president is some what limited in what they can actually accomplish. Obama will not open our borders, but he will hopefully be able to enforce an immigration policy that is logical! McCain’s policy on immigration has just recently become more conservative, because it had to so he could try to convince people he is a republican. Is Obama going to raise taxes, probably, especially for the rich. He is going to reverse the tax cuts George Bush tried to use to convince Americans to like him. The truth is you pay what you get for, so if you want a powerful country that is also compassionate you need to understand it cost money. It is my belief he will mainly raise taxes on George Wubba’s rich friends. I have not seen any evidence that suggest Obama has plans to strengthen affirmative action. My hopes is that he will throw out that crap policy known as NCLB and come up with a comprehensive educational policy that values teachers, while strengthening education, especially in poor urban and rural areas. If you want to help the poor you give them the tools to rise above their circumstances, which is mainly a quality education. NCLB has done major damage to our educational system and it is going to take someone with compassion and smarts to fix it. McCain will not change Bush’s educational policy. That in itself should be a reason not to vote for McCain. Vote for him he you like devaluing teachers, keeping poor urban and rural schools student from being able to succeed, treating special needs student like crap, forcing our kids to memorize facts instead of being able to be creative and analytical thinkers, and if you just plain don’t care about kids. Obama will bring our troops home before the Twenty-second century begins.
  I have numerous ignorant people who assume Obama will be all about black power, but give me a fricking break. People seem to ignore the fact he is half white and was raised mainly in white culture. He is diverse, which is what makes him American.
  May favorite thing about Obama is he will be able to undo some of the damage Bush has caused with his idiotic foreign policy. Obama will be able to reach out to countries and heal some of the tensions Bush created. Neither Hilary or McCain have the compassion, charisma, or the brains to be able to convince the world that we are a Super Power that is not about forcing our beliefs on others, but rather one that would like to be an inspiration to others. One of the great things about Clinton is he was great at making friends with our neighbors, because charm and charisma go along way in foreign policy. McCain puts me to sleep when he speaks, hell he seems to have a hard time keeping himself awake. Not to mention, the rest of the world will only see him as an extension of Bush!!!!! McCain will be a better puppet for the wealthy right wing conservative than Bush was. As far as business goes, I don’t see Obama doing damage to business, but he may provide reasonable incentives for businesses to stay in the U.S. and I am sure Halliburton’s days will be numbers. Do you really think McCain will do anything about businesses like Halliburton?
  I think it is best to choose a president who you believe is a person of great moral integrity, strength, compassion, and intelligence. We don’t really know exactly what any of them will be able to accomplish, but we want a person who will do what is right and not be afraid to be tough. Out of the three candidates there are two who seem to put winning above all else, while there is one who is not afraid to stand up for what he believes in even if it could hurt his chances of winning. I am not saying that Obama does not want to win, but I am certain that he would not try to win the presidency at any cost. When he went against the Iraq War he put his political career in huge danger of destructing, but he spoke out for what he believed was right. Everyone knows that he could of played ugly with Clinton, because her closet is full of baggage, but he took the high road. Anyone who still has question about who he is, I suggest you read his book “Dream’s from My Father” to get a true sense of the man. He wrote this book before he began his political career, so it has nothing to do with him trying to win the presidency. There is no doubt that he had know idea where his road was leading when he wrote it.

  Funny Flori! Good questions, but if you spent sometime with me you would understand. I think before ADHD there were a bunch of misunderstood people. For me I find my brain tends to move to fast and think way to mush, so much that it is very distracting. I misplace at least 2-3 things a day. I have an extremely hard time with organization, and I tend to hyper focus on somethings so much it causes me great anxiety. I have had this issue my whole life and knew I had undiagnosed ADHD for years. I agree that medicine is not the only answer, but it can be essential. Anyone who doubts the effectiveness and importance of meds for ADHD and mental illnesses should come spend a week at my school. I do believe that often pills are handed out way too easily and every child who is given meds for ADHD or a mental illness should also be required to be in counseling. I am receiving cognitive therapy at the same time I am taking meds. At first my counselor wanted to avoid meds until the day I broke down in her office explaining how being ADHD has adversely affected my life. My side effects are gone, except for lack of appetite which I hopes sticks around. Although I feel less impulsive I am more scattered brain than ever, so I am hoping in a week or two I become more focused.

  Yes for ADHD. I was recently diagnosed, but it was no surprise. I have known for years, but I am finally trying to do something about it.
  
  Puck what was your experience? Did you experience side effects and if you did was it worth it. The side effects have been horrible since I have been on it. It is now day 5. It makes me so sleep I feel like I took a very strong sleeping people, I have not appetite, light headache, and nausea. I was told this is all normal and the will lesson as time goes on and at about week 3 or 4 I should start to reap some benefits It has not been fun.
  
  Florie I agree but I have tried all that. I have dealt with it for too long not to at least try some meds.

  This issue needs to be addressed asap one way or another. If you are afraid of him you should call the police immediately. What change in your circumstances that triggered him? What has your life with him been like the last 5 years? How old are you?
