2007-05-18 10:51:46 on I’m a 20 year old woman who longs for a dad.
wow… interesting thread… 3Jumps,perhaps because I’m a dad… I thought your reply was a bit over the top and too general; “dads suck”. But I of course will try to respect your position, because of what you’ve been through.
Our parents do the best they can. It has been this way through all the ages. There is not ONE person you can speak to, of ANY age, that would not be able to understand where you are coming from. None of us were given the handbook, and no matter what you say to yourself NOW, about NEVER gonna do that to MY kids… well… guess again. I’m not saying all parents are perfect, they are not… but they are the best they can be. You can’t expect a screwed up person to raise wise and beautiful kids. But wise and beautiful kids CAN come from screwed up parents despite them! I wish every one here a great shot at being wise and beautiful… I know you have it in you, if you are not that already!!!
Sincerely

2007-05-18 10:05:55 on Im noy gay, but sometimes I get homosexual urges.
lol… OMG AKS… gay cooties? ok… Good post though, although the “man crush” thing… I’m not sure you out grow it. I’m 47, and still can admire or be jealous of other guys my age… I personally look like a God… it’s just too bad it’s Buddha! (ok pleeeeeeesssssss I KNOW Buddha is NOT a God… it’s just a joke…OK?)
2007-05-18 09:32:45 on I cut myself shaving this morning, and can’t stop the bleeding!
How about a bandaid? Those litte round ones are pretty good. Question is why are you bleeding so much? Do you have a blood condition or taking blood thinners for high blood pressure / cardio issues? Bleeding 2 hours after a shaving nick is not normal.

2007-05-18 08:13:45 on Im noy gay, but sometimes I get homosexual urges.
Ohhhh thank goodness… I thought you were going to say you were abnormal somehow. Yes… every guy, at one point in their life will wonder what it would be like to be with another guy. The deeper the thought, the more it grosses them out when it is through. I’m not gay, so I can’t tell you what it feels like to have gay feelings. I imagine it’s just like Hetero thinking only with guys… in other words, if when you see a hot guy, and you get a sexual urge pretty much all the time.
2007-05-18 07:24:15 on ……….y do guys judge gurls by their
well… it is a well known FACT.. that men are sexually stimulated simply by SEEING something. Why do you think the porn industry has done so well? I am in no way justifying rude behavior in men. AND I’m not saying men do not fall in love with the inner woman…. they DO. But … is is a fact that men are visual creatures… so women, unless you put blinders on your men when you go out, he will see other women… get used to it. SO GUYS… SHOW SOME CLASS WHEN YOU ARE WITH YOUR WOMEN.
2007-05-18 07:04:02 on my daughter is 31 has been around a bit has been in abusive relationships and is now definitely alcoholic.
Chick… great perspective…Shawna.. .I like it… family and friends together to talk to her… an Intervention. A classic intervention is done with a professional, usually a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Google LCSW and you’ll find a plethora of them. Personaly, since your daughter has not seemed to hit rock bottom, she will be very resistant to an intervention, but there is always a bit of hope. It’s difficult I know… because she is an adult there is not much you can do… as a mother you want to do soooo much more. Your love is the best thing you do… and I know that’s hard sometimes too. It doesn’t sound like she’s hurting anyone yet (she probably will eventually) so that is a good thing. I wish you and your daughter so much luck and well being.

2007-05-18 06:52:13 on ok im in love with my history teacher, and he flirts with me sometimes.
uggghhhhh I can’t respond to this post! This thread pushes a hot button in me and starts my stomach rolling!
2007-05-18 06:38:27 on I have a boyfriend of 3+ years who I live with and who is a really awesome guy.
wow… what a great story. Not great in the regard to emotions, but what a great example of what our minds can do to control EVERYTHING. First you say your guy is AWESOME. In my experience, anything that is awe inspiring, kind of stick with you. I’m not saying your b/f will not stick in your heart; I’m sure he will. You’re simple knowing however that in 2 weeks, he will no longer by your commitment (as b/f, g/f) or you his, you can start to feel things for another. What I like about this example is to hold it up against all those other people that loose someone and are DEVESTATED… thier world ends. How a simple matter of perspective can change EVERYTHING.
It sounds to me like you have a pretty healthy attidude Anon. Do as Tapdancer says… talk to he… make your break face to face. You’ve already talk to him about most of it. But all good stories have an ending. The best stories have very clear endings.

2007-05-18 06:24:41 on So my sister just had her realtionship end with her boyfriend of 3 years.
Good advice Tapdancer. I was thinking exercise. Get out and get moving, but make sure it’s nice good cardio. I say this because it is the endorphines released into our body systems that help to fight off depression (as well as many other things… i.e. pain). I like the girls night out idea above… go out dancing; kill 2 birds with one stone… exercise and scope out the guys! Also, if the depression does not go away, there are places that will see you on a sliding scale. Most schools of psychology will do this because the grad students need to practice under supervision; look for one of these.

oh…btw… what a GREAT sister you are!!! some siblings would never be so supportive! God bless you!
2007-05-18 06:10:05 on im sorry if i talk about my appearance all the time
well… if that’s your picture in your Avatar… then you should rethink your definition of beautiful. I think that picture is beautiful. I’m sorry to hear you don’t like the person you are. What is it that you’d like? Ya know there was a time in my life when I thought I was a failure. I actually still struggle with that a little bit, but NOWHERE as much as I used to. I found some things that I wrote down in a little book. Maybe it could help you too. http://www.lulu.com/content/862745
