Opps OK… I learned if you I use “” around a word or phrase it is removed from the text. My example in the previous post was “Having intelligence” verses, “we must recognize those things provided by The Universe” AND “will and courage to try things” verses, “hard work and acting on those things the Universe has provided”. We actually are not saying anything too different.

op·ti·mism [op-tuh-miz-uhm]
–noun 1. a disposition or tendency to look on the more favorable side of events or conditions and to expect the most favorable outcome.
2. the belief that good ultimately predominates over evil in the world.
3. the belief that goodness pervades reality.
4. the doctrine that the existing world is the best of all possible worlds.
pes·si·mism (pěs’ə-mĭz’əm)
n.
1.A tendency to stress the negative or unfavorable or to take the gloomiest possible view: “We have seen too much defeatism, too much pessimism, too much of a negative approach” (Margo Jones).
2.The doctrine or belief that this is the worst of all possible worlds and that all things ultimately tend toward evil.
3.The doctrine or belief that the evil in the world outweighs the good.
I’m sorry, but someone that says they are a pessimist AND happy is either lying, dazed and confused, or a masochist. While optimism helps with the Law of Attratcion, (and in my opinion just a better way to live), it is not the Secret. or What we have said is pretty much the same thing, I’ve used more words that’s all. Here is a good law of attraction joke; This man is caught in a flood, and is praying to God for diliverance. Along comes the fire department, “come soon my man” the fireman yells, “we are evacuating the city before the waters start to rise!”, “No”, saids the man, “God will deliver me”. 2 hours later the waters have risen and the coast guard comes by in a motor boat. “come now my man” yells the coast guard, “the waters are still rising”. “No”, says the man, “I pray to God for deliverance, for he has promised my faith with salvation”. An hour later, the man finds himself atop the roof of his house… praying with all his might, as a rescue helicopter flys by, lowering it’s ladder. “This is your last chance”, yells the rescue team, “the waters still rise, you will be swept away to your death!” “No”, replys the man. “My faith is strong in the Lord, he alone is my salvation”. An hour later the man is dead, and he finds his soul in heaven before God. “My Lord”, weeps the man, “you promised to be by my side if I only had faith in you!” God leaned over to the man, “My brother, I sent you a Firetruck, a motorboat, and a HELICOPTER, what more do you want from me?!” In truth, these are the small miricles you speak about. God, The Universe, The Great Spirit, what ever you want to call it, will conspire with your “prayers” the mere asking of it, BUT you must be willing to first SEE the helicopter for what it is then have the courage to ACT, and act quickly for this is what the Universe demands.

I’m wondering if you’d have to tell that boy (born in the streets) to think positive. The cool thing about children is their innocence. Children of poverty play just as hard and as long as those that have. Mauri, You don’t believe in this, and you don’t believe in that… you have seen both the dark and shiny side of the coin, yet you seem to believe in the dark side.
The Law of Attraction has been around for centuries, and was taught be the greatest masters of the world… Buddha told us, “The mind is everything, what you think, you become”, a Buddist will tell you, “when the student is ready, the master will come”. Jesus of Nazareth taught us, “… ask and you shall receive, knock and the door shall be answered …”. This law of the universe is every bit as viable as the Law of Cause and Effect, and every bit as functioning in the world today.
What the Secret did, was take a very old principle, shined it up, have it a “Hollywood” spin, and put it out there for the world to see. The presentation of The Secret is more offensive to people than the Law of Attraction itself… and that’s like shooting the messanger; it serves no purpose. The Secret does not say that “things fall out of the sky”. In fact it says we must recognize those things provided by The Universe, and act quickly on them.
Is there negativity in the world today… hell yes, of course! But you can choose to fall into it, or climb out of it. We can choose to become a teacher where we can make a difference in the lives of those children born of poverty, and we can choose to be the child that appears almost 2 hours early to school on a day that is not even required. Many have lifted themselves out of the negative position they have been in, and you say it’s been only hard work. Yes hard work and acting on those things the Universe has provided them (some would call it only luck).
I respect all the opinions here. I for one am born of God with the ability to choose. For far too long I allowed the Universe and especially others to make some of my choices for me, and believe me it was not always pleasant. I have a far less than perfect life now, but I am extremely happy on most counts and those where I am not extremely happy, I still choose to be happy. I’m not ignorant to sadness. Bad days come and go, just as the clouds do blow by. I choose not to focus on those days anymore. He can say, “the glass is half empty”, she can say, “the glass is half full”. I will always look for and find the Pitcher full of water, and my glass will always be FULL.

2007-05-05 20:39:22 on What do you do if your sister weighs less than 90 pounds and she won’t eat?
Eating disorders are deadly. They must be treated by professionals that familiar with the issue. Your sister needs help and if your parents can not see this, then you must help them see it. Your sister is feeling a lack of control in her life, and whe realizes that she does have total control over her body. Eating disorders are a control issue. She needs professional help… get it soon.

2007-05-05 04:23:35 on PHOBIAS- Oh, this should be FUN!
A persistent, abnormal, and irrational fear of a specific thing or situation that compels one to avoid it, despite the awareness and reassurance that it is not dangerous.
A strong fear, dislike, or aversion.
In terms of this definition, No I have no phobia’s. The closest I would go is my dislike of spiders. Although it’s just the very big hairy ones.
2007-05-05 04:17:17 on hello
I’m sorry but, “… i have done toefel 2 fulfil ur language requirements …” is far from sufficient for I do not understand you. What is LSE, and what exactly is your question. Are you looking for a host?

2007-05-04 23:34:51 on Ok, my ex step brother’s wedding was today and no one told me till now.
I’m thinking you need to talk to your step brother. He’s the one that did the inviting, and perhaps there is a reason. Weddings and such can be a real hassle when it comes down to an invitation list, and unfortuntely, unless someone has absolutely NO money worries… someone is always left off the list because there just is budget for so many people. Perhaps there is no slight here at all. And what if there was a slight here; what an excellent opportunity for you to be the bigger person and try to clear the air.

2007-05-04 23:27:48 on Regarding Prejudice
First I want to say, if you are white, like me, we (I) will never fully understand prejudice as any person of color can understand it. Believe me when I say that the beginning of slavery is absolutely NOTHING like we were taught in school. Slavery grew out of greed. It was a realive cheap labor force, and the laws were put on the book systemically so as to keep the people of color oppressed. Decades of oppression, and at the very least psychological entitlement to “whites” gave rise to prejudice.
2007-05-04 23:00:49 on Since a recent heartbreak I find myself motivated in some areas, and feeling like I’m undeserving of things in others.
As Richard Bach would say; Perspective, use it or loose it. It doesn’t sound like a TERRIBLE break up, but with any loss we must go through the stages of grief. One thing which helps is distraction (which is why you do so well in class), and another will be exercise. The endorphines from exercising are GREAT to increase you positive moods, and pretty much everything. And if you don’t like exercise, there are lots of other ways to raise endorphines. Perhaps you’d do well to take a look at my book; Can someone please tell me why my life sucks. I know your life does not suck, but the book is actually more about getting back on the right path, and feeling good about it.

2007-05-04 11:39:55 on i have cerious anger problems and i dont know what
First know that there is nothing wrong with anger. Everyone gets angry. What we have to be careful of is the contol of our rage. If you are raging there are times or places where that would be socially unacceptable. Your teacher wants you to do something because they do want to do anything to help you, and they cannot cope on their own. Ashleigh has a good point. In times and places where you cannot express yourself as you’d wish, distraction is an excellent tool. It can be writing as she suggests (putting your rage into words on paper instead of into the air!). There can be any number of distractions as long as they are not addictive to you. The key is going to be learning what triggers your rage. Is this part of your shadow self (as Jung would say)? The shadow that remains disowned is a very tricky and potentially dangerous thing. What we resist, persists! Disowned shadow will boil up and OVER in ways and times you LEAST expect!

Your core believe have nothing to do with other people. Your quest for a spiritual foundation however is not unusual. We all seek to find that which is greater than us. Some never find it, or come to a ealization (for them) that it just doesn’t exist. Your belief in a supreme bieng is very personal. And if you make your spirituality personal… have no fear, you will be different than everyone else, because you are so different from everyone else already!

2007-05-04 09:21:42 on My co-worker has a problem.
It’s difficult to know how to respond without know more about the people involved. Since they BOTH went to a strip club you would have thought that BOTH were into it. Then again - she has mixed feelings re: her boyfriend fondleing another woman in her presence (this would have turned her on I would have thought if she were ‘into’ it). I’m guessing that she is the type of woman that is willing to give into the will of another- to surrender herself. With the right person this can be beautiful, but it’s difficult to find the right person. This guy sounds like an addictive personality, which unless she is ready for that, will have problems down the road. Both alcohol and sex are addictions that are to be recognized BEFORE entering into a solid, serious, intimate relationship. I suggest getting my book - google, Can someone please tell me why my life sucks. I’ve pointed out some very tangible things to look at to help shine some light on this sort of thing.
