  well i am not an “elder” but i do know what you are feeling because i felt it too not to long ago. and i heard something that made me think. treading water works the same muscles as swiming, but if you swim you will eventually actually end up somewhere. let god show you where he wants you to go instead of trying to get there on your own. if you really love this guy, pray about it. you might find he is the one God wants you with. talk to God. read his word and just sit and listen for a while. let him talk to you. he wont fail you. i hope i helped. if i know the while situation, i might be able to help more.
