  I found myself in a similiar situation and I had to learn to ignore his negative comments and find my own strenght and the more I did this the more it seemed to bother him he started coming back with things like why don’t i love him anymore and thinking I was with someone else he would say these things in a nasty way trying to get me to engage in the negative behavior he was pursuing but I would refuse. this was difficult because of course it hurt my feelings and made me angry and sad. He is getting better now.and we have a good relationship We have been married for eight years and it has been rough. I even had to get to the point of almost leaving before he would really listen to what I had to say. You do have to stand up for yourself and let him know that it is not going to be tolerated the way he is treating you but do not sink to his level and do not keep letting him feel empowered by your pain. He willnever admit it but it does impower him .. Does he try to make you happy after he breaks you down. If he does that is a defenite sign of him wanted and needing to feel in control ,, let me know how it goes and good luck be blessed and do pray over it. Ask god to help him to see his ways and how they are impacting you .. Also ask god to give you strength to make it through a bad situation and bring you out on top and more wise then you were before.

  I am very h appy for you but it sounds a little dangerous to just need this boy in your life to be happy I mean what if things don’t work out. You need to find that same joy inside yourself so that everyday no matter if you have a boyfriend or not is beautiful. Find the joy in your life. I think it is great that you are in love so don’t think I am trying totake that from you but I grew up the same way and didn’t have a lot of boyfriends but when I did fallin love it was with the wrong people and I based mjy happiness on them and my value. When they didn’t want me any more I didn’t know what to do until I realize that nobody will value me unless I value myself and I can love my life and all the beautiful things in it with out a man.

  Hey fruit basket i am new here and reading your problem i have to say one thing a it sounds to me like maybe you like this guy because he is the opposite of what your family wants could you be just rebelling. i did it and i regret it. the only wonderful thing i got out of is my children. i am married now to someone else and have learned that the drugs and alchol and everything else can be exciting and maybe you just want to fix him. it is romantic to be able to save some one from themselves but we reallycant do it. you need to think about what you wnat in the future. do you want a family and if you do what will you do if you have children and he is still doing drugs do uyou want them to do drugs. i am sure your family wants you to be happy but sometimes they see things we can not because we are too close to the situation. good luck with this and i hope you make the right the decision.

  sometimes people are going through things that we can not understand and so we really can not help them. I have lost someone I love dearly before and it is hard./ It hurts so badly sometimes that you want to die inside. But you have to stay strong and continue to live your life. You set the example that your brother in law could not. You succeed were he failed and teach your nephew how to do what he needs to do to grow and be a wonder ful person in this world. It isnot hopeless though it may feel that way. You are young and have a long road ahead of you.
