• (3 votes) I tried to tell my best friend that I’ve been fighting depression for the past few years, but she doesn’t get it.
  

  live simply. make lists of positive goals, no matter how high they may be. i have one genuine hobby that lets me escape from everything… but sometimes when i get in such a mood i don’t even feel it would help. helping people or volunteering is the most amazing feeling. it always always cheers me up. so even if you don’t think it would help, try it. go out and sign up for a soup kitchen or humane society. and lastly, don’t be afraid to be independent and make new friends. it’s so easy to gain happiness and a strong feeling of success after you feel you’ve gained independence.
  don’t depend on your friend to understand if he/she cannot. all you can do is explain and talk to them. worry about taking care of yourself, though it’s really hard when you feel you’re not being well understood

  will it make you feel better that i totally understand? that i’m in the same boat as you? i read this and almost lost my breath. my grandfather is doing horribly health wise- and i’m around to see my mother crying about it every night because her father means so much to her. my grandmother has just recently left him… i lost a lot of hope in love. but, i had a loving boyfriend. the nicest boy i’ve come across so far and he means so much to me.. he’s ideal. then out of the blue, he broke up with me. he needs space, time, to focus on school, feels distant. ********. i’m dealing. i’m being optimistic and finding new things. it’s not fun or easy and some days its not even worth it, but overall it is. i have had the best friends to lean back on, and im sure you do too. if not, then find some! make every day an adventure and find new things. maybe things will fall back into place with your ex… but maybe they wont. you have to do something really hard right now, and its something you dont want to hear:
  you have to trust everything. everything that just hurt you… those same things. you have to trust. you have to let go and be there for yourself and do things for yourself. look at things from a larger perspective and know theres always possibilities.

  sometimes it’s harder to move away from the past, trust me, i’m dealing with that a lot right now. but it’s usually for the better. life goes on and we can’t stay thriving in the past of what used to be great

  don’t feel bad about telling your teacher, he/she probably just didn’t want to give you bad advice not knowing much about such a personal issue. look at this as not stopping a habit, but changing your course. think of other little things you’d like to improve, write it down and go for it. do not give in. take it day by day, even reward yourself if you stay strong! we’re here to help, but if you can’t do it alone, it’s perfectly fine to look for help. just make sure they are good help for you, and aren’t wasting your time and money, and aren’t on a different page. wishing you lots of luck! don’t give in, you really can do it. you can find better things.

  you shouldn’t aim for anything. you should go about life as a journey, and if you find someone who wants to join in that with you, then take it as long as you can, don’t overanalyze. it’s not something you plan out and if you go in with a long term or short term mindset you are hurting yourself. live out everything to it’s fullest potential.

  it comes in phases for reasons we cannot grasp. sometimes we get bored of the people, other times we can’t seem to get them to give us the time of day … there’s so many scenarios. i believe you are stuck in the situation of not being able to desire commitment with someone because of other aspects in your life. it’s just not the right time. and of course, you cannot force it. so, take this time in between to realize who you are, what you want, and then when you least expect it, you will find it. everything that is meant to be, will find a way kind of deal
