Did great. You kept at it and gave solid flowing info to every new angle.
I post on these to maintain my karma. I was never a believer, but in a mindset that was brainwashed over the years. I thought I needed god around in other people for morals and community to survive. He “set me free” with the truth haha
Had a post with a young man trying to figure out if the bible allowed him to get the tattoo he wants. Showed him the the book said no, but then all the other strange things it banned. He wouldn’t get it in the end.
I read your profile and you got nothing to worry about with stuck mindsets, but only because you do worry about it :-)
thanks for that, saved me an hour. I was reading the post taking note of all the errors, and then got to yours and you answered more clearly than I was going to. Theists seem to refuse change before, and deny it afterwards. I do hope some of what your said made sense to them.
really? are you ahead in school or do you guys just take economics earlier than we do here? it’s a senior class in good ol AZ
course, AZ is typically way behind other states in education so I wouldn’t be surprized if that’s just the way they do it where you’re at.
you’d be a freshman, right? so does that mean she’s an 8th grader?
It seems more than wordcraft - it seems to me you have knowledge you wouldn’t have if 14. On the other hand, I still think you may be Ikari, in which case I guess you would be 14. Which is lovely since I also am 14.
How do you know you grew up later? Have I revealed “too much” here? Oh no!!
I feel that we are blessed to have him. I also feel completely unable and unwilling to engage with anyone who doesn’t see how good he is. I’m going to avoid all arguments here. I haven’t like myself too much for getting entangled with certain people and acting like just as much of an idiot as I thought they were. :( But onward …
Lol. See, if I had payed more attention in chemistry 101, I’d have known that…
But you can’t get the Silvertongue ability unless you go all the way into English. If I had learned that back in school, I wouldn’t be able to pwn like I do.
This is an interesting question. One whose answer I’ve been struggling for months to figure out the best way to word.
In all things, if there is no reason to fear them being fact, I do not live as though they are. However, if there is a potential reason to fear, I don’t risk assuming they are not.
For example, while I do not believe in demons or hell, I don’t f**k around with Ouija Boards, because I don’t KNOW if they’re real or not, and that’s just a stupid, pointless risk, however unlikely I find it.
I have seen no proof that they exist, so I do not believe they exist; nor have I seen any proof that they do not exist, so I do not believe they do not exist.
Well, see… I kinda cheated. Sort of. See, those are the Webster Dictionary definitions of the two. The first was agnostic, and the second was Atheist. And as you might have seen in a lot of the religious debates I’ve been in, I take agnosticism even further, calling my version philosophical agnosticism, as it involves being agnostic on all issues unless there is proof one way or the other. (D*mn, that was a long sentence.)
The point is not to offend, it to point out the truth. And I am not an Atheist in any sense of the word, testicles or not. I’m an agnostic, which is no where near being an Atheist. Being an Atheist requires just as much blind faith as being religious. It takes just as much belief to believe, for certain, that there IS NO GOD because there’s no proof either way, as it does to believe that there IS A GOD, even though there’s no proof. See, either way, I’d be dealing with faith, which I don’t have, and quite frankly, don’t want. Besides, even through they do it in the name of a different faith, Atheists act a lot like Christians, running around and trying to convert people, insulting people who don’t agree with them, and bringing up their faith that there is no god at often inappropriate times. Just because there’s no god involved doesn’t mean it’s not just another belief system.
Yes, Atheism is more scientific, but there’s still no proof. Regardless of how it makes you feel to think you have the knowledge of “THE TRUTH” that everyone is seeking… you don’t. It’s the same feeling religious people get when they’re surrounded by people who agree with them.
Lol, inertia, static friction… either way, I have the experience to be good at it, and that tends to piss everyone off. No matter what, there has not been a single religious discussion that I’ve ever ‘lost’ here. Because admitting that there’s no proof either way, and thus remaining objective about the entire issue is the only way to have an infallible argument in this debate.
Other than that, no. No one else has complained. Mainly because very few people have actually read it.
Though, I did just add the religious/Atheist acronyms a day or two ago in an indirect response to a religious one someone posted that made me laugh out loud for about twenty mins because it was so predictable, and quite frankly, retarded.
yeah, Help.com is funny that way…everyone leaves every once in a while, then when you come back you can never be too sure who is going to be here. But you alway come back at some point cause it’s just so dang helpful sometimes! lol
nice ta see ya around every once in a while…reminds me of the good ol days on help :)
Adam, don’t tear on Fizz. It is all to likely you have your mind made p, and are having you locked in place beliefs clashing, without either choosing to seriously consider the other.
oh, wait…
“Which I am sure I am doing as well, so I guess it is a 50 50 chance I chose the right one, eh?”
Never mind that then…
As for leaving, I doubt that… Congress is democratic, so McCain wouldn’t be all mighty or anything.
