  Sorry but I believe her employer is being vigilant in his duties. Keeping her safe during her wait for you is a good practice. I have worked for people who care and people who don’t. Guess which I prefer. I have had the president of a company I work for (about 150 employees) offer to help me under the hood of my car when it broke down in the office parking lot. I don’t understand your attitude. I am surpirsed you are not grateful for his concern.

  It is all the dirt and pain that make the beauty so glorious. It is our freedom to choose right from wrong that makes a heroic act so valuable. It is people who screw everything up that make helpers so nice. It is the existence of evil that accentuates peace. In short the world with all its flaws is perfect.

  It is not smart or strong to take things from people. Manipulation may be cunning. Avoiding the truth may be crafty. But it is ignorant to believe that anything you take by force or deceit will enrich you. This booty will leave you hollow and the booty will disappear before it gives any real value to it thief.   As a prospective employer I want to hire someone who wants to work for me doing what I need him to do. I do not care for someone who wants to work for just anybody doing just about anything.
  You give yourself an advantage by knowing what specifically you want to do, even if that is just for now. You give yourself an advantage by knowing what you want from your employer as far as training, benefits, wages, loyalty, etc.
  Know yourself. What skills do you posess? What do you love to do? What other attributes do you have? What proof can you offer that you can excell in the position you seek? If you are ready for only hard labor jobs that is fine. If you excel in brainwork like accounting or sales and that is what you like just as good. Target a type of job that you want and is realistic for you to do based on your experience. Do not look through the help wanted ads and say I can do this I can do that.
  Get your resume up to date. Make twenty copies. Make a list of twenty companies you want to work at. (dont worry about openings) Hand deliver it to the decision maker of the companies you are interested in. Schedule an appointment for an interview before you leave. You can easily deliver five per day. You may get an appointment quickly. Dont stop there. Get another and another and another. Now the pressure of one interview is off you and you can present yourself in a better stronger light. And you can be concerned about the qualifications of your prospective employer.
  You pick your job. It doesn’t pick you.
  It is not luck. It is numbers. You take fifty shots one is likely to hit especially if you are aiming at something.
  Push it. you have nothing to lose. you didn’t have the job going in - if you dont have it coming out nothing is lost.
  Push yourself take those fifty shots over a couple of years and you dont get enough concentrated pratice you improve your shot. Get them over a couple of weeks and you probably will improve quickly.

• Why bad things happen to good people; the answer you’ve all been waiting for~
  

  intriguing. I didn’t have time to read all the responses but noted a significant theme of argument which was my first response. I don’t think most need to experience blindness to appreciate vision. True, many take for granted the good things they have but that happens to be true of impoverished as well as wealthy. In my experience people who have achieved greatly appreciate their gifts - they don’t have to have been disabled to value what they have.
  On the flip side of that argument my own experience: I have been through a few unhealthy relationships that caused damage and pain in several ways. So now in a new relationship I see attributes I appreciate more and I watch carefully for unhealthy patterns both from myself and my friend. In other words I have learned from what I have experienced what I probably would not have learned otherwise.
  Still the question remains: would I see the values of my new love without my past experience? would my strengths grow quicker without the healing I have needed? would my understandings be lessened by not seeing light from the darkness?

• Is talking with someone about things “using” them?
  

  If you want a suggestion: Talk with this person about this. Your friend has responsiblity for setting the limits on what help he is willing to provide. If he gave you too much time he could have said so before he reached the limit of his willingness to give. To say this after the fact is kind of like “indian giving” - Here you can have this. No I take it back.

• What value does your life have?
  

  I know that everything I do or say has an impact that may ripple for generations. For example: When I spend time with a good friend, I develop more positive feelings and greater understanding of myself and my relationships. These growths yield better parenting so my children are growing similarly. Further, their friends are affected by my kids’ playing and working with them. Thus my friend spending time with me has a broad impact on society. It is like the butterfly effect. What is more is you may never know the when the small simple smile you give to the person standing behind you is enough to remind them that the world is full of pleasantness and it is worth it to keep trying. And their renewed good mood ripples through their friends and families.
  We all have tremendous opportunity to impact the world for generations. Just because our names will not all go down in history books doesn’t mean we are not just as important.
