  1) I’m worried that I have lung cancer or something due to the amount I smoke. I’ve got a weird cough that I should get checked out, and I keep tasting blood. Could be a summer cold I guess, or hayfever?

  Thanks for your kind words. Sorry I have not replied to anyone directly, but be assured I have read all that was said. There is no update to give as things haven’t changed. I am, as you may be able to tell already, distancing myself from the site. It is a practice I have often felt necessary to employ from time to time in order to get some perspective, particularly as I feel that I spend far too much time here. But I must keep in contact with my friends who I would never have met had it not been for help.com, so I will be around.

  Wow. That’s quite a tale. I’m sorry you felt you had to go that far, but grabbing the ledge as you were falling is a clear sign that you want to live no matter how difficult the circumstances. You’re clearly a fighter even if you don’t want to believe it.
  Your mom sounds like she’s too busy with her own problems to even notice anyone else, and frankly she sounds like she’s being a terribly poor mother right now. Maybe she just doesn’t understand you, or maybe she feels that you’re trying to purposely create problems for her. Whatever the reason may be this attempt should have shown her that you want her love and attention, but you don’t need it. Be strong and show her that you are better than she gives you credit for. Start a new life for yourself, and when she’s old and grey you can put her in a nursing home featured on ‘60 Minutes’.

• Are PC games that are made for XP able to run on Vista?
  

  Some developers have released Vista updates which enable their games to run on the system. Others haven’t. And other games that may not have the support from the developers might run on Vista perfectly well anyway. Others don’t. It’s hit and miss I’m afraid; but most games released just prior to Vista are compatible anyway…but then others aren’t.
  A piece of advice: if you buy a game that doesn’t work with your system then the store won’t usually take it back, right? After all, you should have made sure it was compatible prior to buying the game as far as they’re concerned. Well, stick it to ‘em by telling them that you do not agree to the EULA which you would only have been able to read once the game had been purchased, unwrapped and loaded on to your computer. They have to take it back. Take that The Man!
