  I don’t know if you have had a chance to get counseling for your mother yet, but the sooner that you get her talking to someone, a minister, State jobs counselor, or mental health professional, the quicker that she will start the rebound. That urge to just “Sleep” until it is all over is not good for her or you. With more companies out-sourcing and using consultants, she is not alone. Many people are finding themselves no longer safely employed.
  
  Being that there is a younger sibling involved, the state will most likely have some resources available to ensure that they are not left on the street. I’m not sure if that will help you any since you stated you are 19 already, but at least they will have options so that you can pursue options for yourself.
