  Suicide is an act of violence that reaches far beyond you, and that hurts people you may not even have met. I’ve thought about suicide often enough, I may know something about how you feel, and I do know about extreme loneliness, and hopelessness, and how hard it can be to get through the days, and nights. Can you say a little about what brought you to this point?

  Put your ego aside,and listen to her. She’s probably feeling that you don’t understand her. From what you say, it seems that you don’t. If you love her, and want to keep her, step back from yourself, and from your opinions, and try to understand where she’s coming from

  Unfortunately, what you are feeling will pass. Live it while it lasts. As you grow older, your heart will change, in fact in a good way, but in a way that you cannot understand now. Just miss her, love her. Feel what you feel.

  It will get easier. I’ve changed careers about a dozen times, and in the beginning I always feel exactly the way you describe. You’re clearly very consciencious and want to do your job well, and you will.

  I understand. Things like that used to happen to me when I was in school. Your teacher is wrong, and so are your classmates, but you have to be patient, not get mad or upset. If possible, try talking to your teacher and say how you feel in a calm way. Try to find a way to stand up to your classmates in a mature way. Don’t let people walk over you, or you will find yourself in the same situation in adult life. People behave the same way in work places. Most people don’t grow up, but if you grow up you can be free of the stupidity of people who don’t.

  Yes, when I was a teenager I used to lie about almost everything. I think it had something to do with me not liking who I was, but also something about protecting myself from people. I grew out of it to some degree, as I came to accept and like myself. I don’t lie any more. However, there are some things I just don’t tell anyone, which could be a form of dishonesty. I think a lot of the lies were about images I was trying to project to people. In this sense, most people you meet in the world are lying. People play roles, try to ’sell’ themselves as something they’d like to be. In fact, Modern Society makes it difficult not to do this, as being a real person, and a real person necesarily has faults, puts you at a disadvantage in most professional and social situations. However, as day by day I learn to be more ‘real’ I find two solid advantages. One, I’m more comfortable with myself. Two, I know who my real friends are.
