  hello steve, let me introduce myself. name is trev and im 18 years old. about two days ago i was here asking for advice for the SAME question that you have asked. my father and mother would love for me to become a doctor, but i doubted myself aswell causing me to make a career change to something which i would rather do, and which i can cope with. i really did not have a clue what i wanted to until just the other day. i took baby steps, i started exploring who i am by going out, meeting people just doing new things. i think that if YOU want to do medicine, then you should go ahead and do it. dont do it for your parents, but do it for yourself because as they say ‘you are more inclined towards retaining something if you have a passion for wanting to learn it’. firstly your GPA shouldnt put you down, regardless if you get the right marks in school or not.. there are always other alternatives to get into medicine, such as studying abroad. i did not get my mark that i needed to study medicine so i looked into studying in the carribean or in europe. my marks were sufficient enough to get in overseas.
  
  You sound like you have achieved alot athlete wise, so there is something else to think about. maybe you could pursue a career in sports.
  
  about the girl thing, dont sweat it man, they will come later on in life, its not so important you know. its not like your going to get a medal for kissing a girl. LOL. dont shut girls out from your life, but im telling you honestly dont get upset over the fact that you havent done anything with them because its not important.
  
  im always here for further advice buddy…good luck and dont stress, it will come to you soon enough. just in the mean time have some fun, dont take life so seriosly all the time, that is what ive learned. and make some new friends, sometimes if you meet people new doors will open in your life and you will have more options.

  hey..im 18 and i have asthma..i used to be a sprinter. the best thing to do is go and swim alot. do alot of laps in the swimming pool. another thing you can do while your just sitting around is hold your breathe for as LONG as you can. do this several times a day, because it expands and contracts your lungs.
  the last and most important thing is that you should do alot of running. you should devise a system where you sprint for a 100 metres, and then jog for the next 100 metres, and then sprint for another 100 metres and so on and so forth.
  i bet that you will see a drastic improvement if you keep this up for a month.

  To Hearnfamily55 - Thankyou so much for your advice. It almost certainly seems like you know my exact situation. I really appreciate it and have given it immense thought. i have decided to keep my options open and apply for college in usa. hopefully my mum wont be too upset. and yes praying is an excellent thing, i pray every night and i must say that god has answered my prayers by leading me in a positive direction. i have had some recent signs and i must say that i owe it all to god. as for career wise i have decided to do something that i am interested in, so everything is going well for me at the moment. anyways i just really wanted to thank you for your help. we really need more people like yourself and others who have given me advice on this website in the world. it would be a much better place if everyone was so caring. thanks alot everyone
