Hey Sam:
Sorry to respond to your shout so late but I gotta tell you I thought Life is like riding a train was brilliant!!! How you manage to come up with this material is nothing more than amazing. Keep it coming.
Not what I can think of right now. When it comes to “Alistar McLean-type” books I prefer an author called Hammond Innes. He writes exciting, with knowledge about the topics and more realistic.
Other books are more like biographies. I liked those about Lee Iacocca (however it was spelled), and the best biography I have read was about a very interesting person, Armand Hammer.
I am sure that you will lve to learn about Armand Hammer and his success/failure/success! An amazing guy!
There is one book that I have recommended to some people before, but I have a feeling of that I may have told you already about it?
It is E=MC2 by David Bodanis. It sounds very technical, but it is really very easy to read. It focuses on the lives of a lot of known people, and you can read though it without any efforts. Those people were amazing, and the understanding of the Einstein formula snitches up like un-noticed from behind, and suddenly you realize that you understand the stuff!
hey sam thank you so much for your help and the quotes, i actually wrote some of them down and i will put them on the wall of my room, to cheer me up when i feel a little down!!
take care !
yes, the upshot (im know im not accurately stating the exact %) but the idea is you estimate your useful dating life (20-35), and calculate the rate of # estimated future dating partners, then when you have gone through 30% of your first partners, you stop when you hit the first one that has the highest satisfaction compared to the past. This ensures the greatest probability that you will hit on average your highest satisfaction. It doesnt ensure you will get your best; it ensures you are improving your probability of stopping on your best.
This post, since it is your quote I thought you might be able to explain to me-
At least 2 people in this world love you so much they would die for you.
At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.
The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because of their own self hatred.
A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don’t like you.
Every night, someone thinks about you before they go to sleep.
You mean the world to someone.
If not for you, someone may not be living.
Everyone is absolutely special and unique.
Someone that you don’t even know exists, loves you.
When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.
When you think the world has turned its back on you, stop and look over your shoulder: you have most likely turned your back on the world.
If you think you have no chance of getting what you want, you probably won’t get it. However, if you believe that you deserve all good things, sooner or later all good things will come to you.
Always remember the compliments you received and forget the rude remarks.
If you love someone, take the time to let them know that you love them.
Molotok you are a good friend why leave take some time off and when you feel better you can come back. I will miss you my friend
and thanks for E=mc2 by Davide Bodanis It is
a interesting book. Take care.
Thank you for a wonderful time! I love you all, it has just became difficult for me to stay with the site.
I have been a member for more than a year. I have had a lot of personal problems, but I have focused very much on engaging in other people’s problems. Maybe partly because it helps me forget my own stuff. I have only four posts (it could have been five), but I have 410 subscriptions and I made 1,045 comments and a lot of shouts. All of them have been made either because of a sincere wish to help, or simply to cheer somebody up.
But I see difficulties in that for the future. Some of you have my personal email. I have also opened my email to all on my friends’ list.
Feel free to write to me, because I love you!
I will stay on long enough to pick up email addresses from those who want to communicate.
about the % happy / % unhappy it actually sounds quite right, even in third world countries where there is limited food.
i dont think these numbers are a coincidence, and i wouldnt be surprised if we found similar results in primates such as cats, dogs, apes, etc. i think it may have to do with the fact that you cannot find a mate if you are unhappy, yet the unhappiness guarantees that the person will search for ways to increase happiness, or in other terms, life necessities. i have a very interesting result i read about life partner/mate selection and satisfaction/happiness, and it is a result that comes entirely from theoretical math. it is known as the drum problem, or the secretary problem. perhaps you might want to wikipedia them.
My dear friend,
I’m taking the time today to let each of my wonderful friends know how important and special they are to me. I came to Help.com not really knowing what to expect, or what I would get out of it. As most of you know, I am addicted to this site, and the good feelings I get from coming here. Helping people gives me a sense of purpose and makes me feel good about being appreciated. I’ve made so many amazing friends here, who have helped me in more ways than they’ll ever realize. You are one of those friends. I love you for being so wonderfully you!
Thank you for everything,
Mitzy
Hi Sam…thanks for the info that you sent.. on India…you had to do a lot of research to come up with that much… and I appreciate it… I tried to thank you several times.. but.. just now found out how to get thru…
all the new high tech. stuff is wonderful… if you can just figure it out…. You said that you were in the south of India… I am still trying to get a grip on where my friend is located… I will let you know when I find out… God Bless…
Hi Sam, seeing that you are from India, could you tell me something about the recent flooding that hit your country? Apparently you were not affected by it?? I read that over 50 million were, this is a staggering number… what part of India do you live in and how far away was the flooding? I heard from someone that i had been in touch with thru email… and he at that time… was contemplating suicide for himself and his family… this was very strange as he had always been a person of faith…. prayer lifted it… and he is ok now.. but, i suppose the conditions caused by the flooding is what drove him to that attitude… also, there are two childrens homes that i have been concerned about… they are both run by an American, Lavergne Tripp… he lives near us… but, I have not yet heard if either of the homes were affected by the flooding..one io in Vidualaja.. or something like that.. it is near the bay of bengal… i think… do you know about the homes??? any info would be appreciated…. God Bless…
